The aim isn’t to over-style or over-retouch. It’s to create believable photographs that give agents and casting teams a useful range.

Sessions are relaxed and unhurried, giving younger performers time to settle in before we work through different expressions, outfits and crops.

Parents or guardians remain welcome throughout the session, and retouching stays natural and age-appropriate.

01 · PLAN
Before the shoot
We’ll talk through what the images are for, your current portfolio and a few straightforward wardrobe options. No need to arrive with a fully formed character list.
02 · SHOOT
In the studio
I’ll guide expression and body position while keeping everything relaxed. We vary crops, energy, wardrobe and lighting rather than relying on gimmicky posing.
03 · SELECT
Build the set
You’ll choose from a private proof gallery. The final six should complement one another and give you useful options, not repeat the same photograph.

Yes. The session is built around creating natural, current images suitable for casting profiles, agencies and submissions, with a small range rather than one repeated look.
Do you photograph adults as well as children?
Yes. The service is for actors and performers of all ages. The current portfolio happens to feature more young performers while the collection grows.
What should I bring?
A few simple, well-fitting clothing options in different tones. Avoid anything that overwhelms your face. We’ll choose what works best once you’re here.
How much retouching do you do?
Enough to make the photographs feel professionally finished, while keeping skin texture, features and age intact. You should still look exactly like you.
Where are sessions held?
At Scarlett Photography’s studio in Newquay, Cornwall. On-location options can also be discussed where they make sense for the brief.
